Wymowki / Excuses

Wymowki, wymowki - cialge je stosuje: "dlaczego krotko, dlaczego nie napisze wiecej". Dzisiaj musze sie wczesnie polozyc, bo jutro mam zamiar poplynac do Macau (o ile mnie chorobsko nie powali, bo wiaterek dzisiaj dal mi sie we znaki...).

Excuses, exscuses - I use them all the time: "why so short, why do I not write more". Today i need to go  to bed early because tomorrow I want to sail to Macau (unless the illness brings me down cause the wind today kind of made me feel a bit worse...). But the truth is that I'm just busy with running around and i don't feel like sitting in a hostel.
So today there will be a proof for the fact that Hong Kong is a city of temples...

Chungking Express to Chungking Mansions

I adres hostelu wybralam nieprzypadkowo.
Poszlam dzis do kina. Na film "Cold War". Akcja rzecz jasna miala miejsce w Hong Kongu. A nawet w Mong Kok!

Today post will be short because everybody is slipping, it's late and I shall not disturb. I will start with the fact that I live in Chungking Mansions. And I will not exaggerate if I say that what brought me here was "Chungking Express" by Wong Kar Wai. I am here because of movies and for movies. And the adress of my hostel I chose intentionally.
I made it to the movies today. On the "Cold War". Action takes place naturally in Hong Kong. And everyone was there: Tony Leung Ka Fai (unfortunately not Chiu Wai - and it's not the same quality), Andy Lau and old Michael Wong. And they blew the cinema in which I was sitting (OK, not exactly the same cinema, because then one they blew in "Cold War" will be playing "Cold War" tomorrow but it doest sound better, doesn't it?). And they were showing all the buildings which I have on my pictures. And they were trying to make it into new "Infernal Affairs" and they did not really manage (probably because of wrong Tony Leung) but... The action took place in Hong Kong! And you know what was the best? When I left the cinema - I was still in Hong Kong! And even in Mong Kok!

Dream City of Hong Kong

Jestem zakochana.

It's like I imagined. Stuffed with people to the borders of imgaination (pavements here look like streets in Dhaka during rush hours - almost impossible to get trough with this only difference that they do not get empty at nights...)
It's huge.
It's beautiful.
And it's exactly like in the movies I've been watching for so many years.
I'm in love.

And naturally I was happy like if I was twelve again when I saw posters with my favorite actor Takeshi Kaneshiro (it's just a pitty that those were adds of watches and not of his latest movie which I would watch in the theatre).

Swoje pierwsze kroki skierowalam oczywiscie do Informacji Turystycznej po klasyczna, papierowa mape (nawet dziadki uzywaja smartphone'ow, ale nie ja...), a zaraz potem zwiedzilam Aleje Gwiazd...

My first steps were directed towards the tourist information - I needed a classic paper map (even all the grannies use smartphones nowadays but not me...) and next I went to the Avenue of Stars...

Po prostu Singapur/Just Singapore

Bez wiekszego komentarza.

Today pretending that that my brain is still working is pointless. After the whole day of walking I'm half dead. And I am not going to upload the best pictures but a special selection. Without any bigger comments.

Ladny kosciolek?/Nice church?

W rzeczywistosci jescze ladniejszy - przeczytajcie napisy przy bramie... / In reality even nicer - just read the signs on the gate...

Japonski lot do odlotu w Singapurze/Japanese flight to Singapore high

W noc przed wylotem z Dhaki spalam moze trzy godziny. Wylecialam kolejnego dnia o 9 wieczorem. Do 13 dnia nastepnego nadal bylam bez snu.
Przylecialam o 3:20 nad ranem.
Przeskok miedzy Dhaka, z jej klepanymi drogami w centrum miasta, najwyzszymi budynkami siegajacymi moze 16tu pieter, a Singapurem, ktory najbardziej zaskoczyl mnie trzema wiezami zwienczonymi budynkiem w ksztalcie statku wycieczkowego byl ogromny.
Kiedy spojrzalam na mape, oczywiscie pierwszym miejscem, do ktorego sie skierowalam, bylo Little India.

And unfortunately it’s not about being high senso stricte but being high because of tiredness – so the less pleasant one. On the night before the take-off from Dhaka I slept maybe three hours. I took-off the next evening at 9 p.m. And until 1 p.m. today I did not sleep at all.
On the plane I decided to eat my dinner and have a beer – hungry waiting at the Singapore airport did not seem to be the best option possible. I could choose from only two dishes so I had teriyaki chicken and Japanese beer Asahi which turned out not to be bad at all. I landed at 3:20 a.m. And waited at the airport until 6 a.m. for MRT to start operating. I reached my hostel around 8 a.m. where it occurred that that the check-in is between 1 and 2 p.m. and not at noon. So I was wandering around the city takin one picture after the other completely unaware of what I’m actually seeing.
The difference between Dhaka with it’s sandy roads in the center of the city and the highest buildings of maybe 16 floors and Singapore which surprised me mostly with it’s three towers connected at the top by a building shaped like a cruise ship was huge. But the city seemed empty. On the streets you see mostly tourists and office workers in their suits. No one uses horn, cars stop before the pedestrian crossing and street lights are working. Some people smoke in the street but they are not numerous. Although it’s so rich it’s also empty and somehow sad.
When I looked at the map my first choice of direction was naturally Little India. Some of the shops were selling cookies from the same plastic containers which are seen in every Dhaka city sale point. The smells coming from the restaurants were similar to those which were mixing in “my” streets just yesterday. It’s just way more colorful.
This evening I was supposed to go for further city wanderings but I’m not even sure if I’m strong enough to go anywhere else other than 7-eleven (I love this net) which is on the other side of the pedestrian street I live at. The cold does not really help to enjoy the place…
But I have to admit that my hostel is really nicely located. Just next to a mosque (with it’s amazing architecture) so that it wouldn’t be too quiet… it’s just on the pedestrian street surrounded by little houses with pubs (way too expensive unfortunately) and souvenir shops. It’s really nice. And I just miss my friends…
Pictures will be uploaded later because the wifi here is soo… sooooooooo slow.
And I didn’t go even to 7-eleven. I’m having my beer here. It’s too expensive. But it’s close…

Little things

Kocia muzyka from Be_bronze on Vimeo.

This post will be written in English and English only. Because the person it is meant for does not speak Polish anyways. And it’s a post about little things.
There are many people in Bangladesh whom I shall thank. And I tried to thank them as I could. But there is also one person without whom I wouldn’t come here in the first place. S.
So – thank you for all these little things that made me smile. For fuchka. For my birthday. For playing on the glasses filled with water. For your shows. For taking care of me. For holding my hair when I was vomiting. For the moments in the morning when you go ballistic cause you’re not fully awake yet. For all the trips we had. Finally for inviting me here.  For all the beautiful moments. They made me the happiest woman in the universe.
I don’t know the future. Neither do you. But I was and still am happy. And I know that so are you.

Bedzie smiesznie, bo bez polskich znakow.
Bo najpierw pojechalismy do Sundarban, potem sie dzialo i dzialo. Przywyklam. Dobrze mi tu. Bangladesz stal sie moim drugim domem.
Te urodziny byly cudowne. S. i pozostali przyjaciele (A., Jimmi, Cheryl, Mama I Tata S., Himi, jej maz) staneli na glowie, zeby ten dzien uczynic wyjatkowym I takim wlasnie byl.

Polish version of this text looks really funny – I don’t have polish font anymore. Because I have a new computer bought exactly on the day of my birthday. It was chosen by the best specialist I know – S. But I can use Bengali font instead.
I haven’t written anything for quite a time. Because first we went to Sundarban and then it was happening and happening. And then writing was more and more difficult because I have only one thought in my mind – about the fact that tomorrow I’ll have to hit the road again. I am happy to see new places but on the other hand… I got used to this place. I like it here. Bangladesh became my second home.
My birthday were absolutely amazing. S. and other friends (A., Jimmi, Cheryl, S.’s Mom and Dad, Himi and her husband did everything to make this day special. I didn’t have a single second to think about the fact that another year has passed by. I had no time for counting pros and cons of things I did and for any kind of sorrow. Although would there be anything to feel sorry about this year? I didn’t waste my time, I worked hard to make all this happen. There were some said moments but also some of them were the happiest in my life. I start the twenty ninth year of my life with quite some potential.
And only my birthday list of visited countries has barely moved. This year I’m adding only one position. But it is the position I will always remember.
